2015 Summary of Art by cakwe   Contest Entry: Kemonomimi Addition! by cakwe  of beating hearts and charming notes by cakwe   NOBLESSE: I HAVE NO REGRETS by cakwe   The Sun by cakwe
I want to introduce :iconcakwe: correctly, since she works hard on her artwork, makes doushinji, and has an Instagram, but all I can note is she caught dengue fever, and even though she almost died, I still could not help laughing at the journal entry.

1. How long have you been drawing?

~ Since.... little? I do know that I liked to draw Digimon and Pokemon since pre-school (which, honestly, doesn't look like a Digimon or a Pokemon at all)

On third grade, I discovered my first manga, Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo which my uncle had borrowed from a library. It was about a mother who murdered her own son in a very convoluted way, which turns out to be her adoptive son, and later the mother willingly lets herself get poisoned and murdered by her actual son. It was a wonderful read. 11/10 would recommend

I fell in love with the details that Fumiya Sato put in her drawings (she's also the artist for Detective School Q, which I'm also a fan of, and I'm convinced she has a knack for drawing dead people) and I thought to myself, "These people are able to make a world in which these characters interact with objects and other people, unfolding a story for readers to observe. That's so cool. I want to do that too."

2. What inspirations/factors influenced your clean and original CG anime style?

~ My biggest inspirations for my CG anime style is probably grandyoukan thanks to Ragnarok Online. I started playing that game back in 2007? 2008? Man, I feel old. Anyways, a lot of his art floated in-game and I really loved those dynamic, beautiful artworks.

Ragnarok Online Guild war illustration by grandyoukan Ragnarok Online Fanart Sniper and high Priest by grandyoukan

Also, since we're talking about my anime style, I'm definitely influenced by manga artists as well. For example, Kohta Hirano, Suzuki Nakaba, and based troll-god Tite Kubo.

3. From your gallery, it can be inferred that you are an obsessed anime fangirl who draws her anime boy waifu fantasies into reality. How close am I to predicting this correctly?

~ Bullseye.

4. What is your all time fandom, and why? What made you go down that pit forever?

~ I had to squint at the question and take some time to realize that I've never actually stuck to a fandom for a long time. Even when I'm in a certain fandom, I barely contribute to the community. Then again, I'm currently ally chaining Dittos while answering this, so I guess my long time fandom is truly Pokemon. (P.S. when can I marry Steven Stone and have a pet Kyogre k thx by e P.P.S. Hoenn is where it's at)

5. Your art has such beautiful colors and shading. It really pops out! Please screenshot a WIP drawing process with the program you use!

Screenshot by cakwe

I haven't been drawing since my wrists (and palm) are in bad condition and I'm not sure about screenshotting a commissioned work, so here's a somewhat-old merchandise ideas. Hopefully, I can to turn these into acrylic charms / keychains / stickers by next year.

6. Another "cakwe" Tumblr user comes and says "Animu is for losers, and all you guys should burn in hell you cisphobic perverted yaoi-loving trash heathens!" and claim they are you. What do you do?

~ Here's a simple step by step walkthrough:

1. Make a disclaimer about how that user is not me and put the disclaimer on my actual accounts across the web (dA, instagram, twitter, etc)

2. Report to the Tumblr admin about the impostor and request for the user to be removed immediately (I know you can do this on Twitter especially if you're a business / influential individual with the same name, not sure about Tumblr though because Tumblr admins are humanoid potatoes with logic aversion)

3. Make yet another post so that hopefully, at least another 1000 tumblr user will help report the user / the account

4. Hope that my art will get more exposure from the dramu that ensues

5. ????

6. Profit

7. What digital/traditional tools (tablet type, coloring pencil type, pen type, etc) do you use to draw?

~ oh dear lord i've been changing tools a lot, especially with traditional artworks, so.... I guess I'll just mention brands that I am fond of.

For tablets, I've been sticking with Wacom for five years now. I've been using the Intuos line ever since I started with a digital media, and I'm currently using the medium Intuos 4. This thing has scratches everywhere and I've replaced it's cable twice but it's still great and I love it.

For watercolors, I love Holbein for anime styled art. It gives nice, vibrant colors and they mix very well, so I do recommend this brand for beginners and professionals alike. Another watercolor brand I love is Royal Talens, and I love to get more of both Rembrandt and Ecoline for myself. These watercolors gives off strong colors, vivid and bold.

Also shout out to Daniel Smith's Extra Fine because those highly pigmented paints are great for textures and watercolor effects you otherwise can't achieve with student grade watercolors but they hella expensive af tho

8. Link us to the proudest doujinshi you have made. Or the most perverted one. Either one.

~ I've only ever made ONE "proper" doujinshi, as in, not an artbook: cakwe.tictail.com/product/you-…

Fully drawn by myself, each page is the very crystallization of my desire to see more of my Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V OTP. I chose the word crystallization because you can see that it is, indeed, shining in it's full fangirl material glory.

9. From the way you speak online, I infer you either have gone to a top Indonesian school, or are a homeless Tumblr user living in a lit up pillow fortress tarp tent. Maybe it is both?

~ Neither, really, as it's really just the result of playing Harvest Moon and trying to understand basic English so I can propose to this one pink-haired chickenfucker girl. I didn't exactly attend a top school (lmao at my grades) nor have I spent substantial time dealing with Tumblr. I do, however, need to thank Harvest Moon for the English crash course.... and the other crash course, that is, you need a chicken feather painted blue to propose to your beloved. Like, diamond rings are overrated.

10. You have a lot of experience! What are some tips you have for someone interested in being a convention artist?

~ If you think you're prepared then you're not

> Is it a big convention or a small convention? Ask yourself this question, ask your fellow convention goers this question, ask the organizers this question. Prepare for the convention accordingly.

> I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH BUT PLEASE TEST YOUR DISPLAY BEFORE GOING TO THE CONVENTION TO SEE IF YOU'LL HAVE ENOUGH SPACE FOR EVERYTHING AND ALSO TO TEST IF YOUR DISPLAY CAN STAY IN POSITION WITHOUT FALLING TO PIECES TO SAVE YOURSELF FROM AGONY

> Prepare some change because there will be that person who pays for their $10 charms with a $100 bill.

> ALSO STRESSING THIS!!!! DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR WATER BOTTLE AND DRINK WHEN YOU CAN

> Good things to have on hand includes mounting putty, decorative tapes, scissors, markers, post-it notes / paper in general, etc

> If you're opening on the spot commissions, either make sure you have some space or bring a clipboard so you can draw comfortably (or, let's be honest and say that it's not comfortable. at least you can draw in a much reasonable way)

11. Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I tickle you until you are immobile and eat all the food in your fridge)?

~ Yeah thanks butts im just going to shamelessly ask if someone could give me steven's shiny beldum it's the first pokemon on this list please note me I can offer you some compensation, like, a top-tier alolan rattata www.serebii.net/omegarubyalpha… thanks a lot

It's In The Stars, My Friend by piratepenguins   His Holiness, The Inquisitor by piratepenguins  Ice Sorceror: 5 Years Later by piratepenguins   Red Orbs with Lines by piratepenguins   Yellow Beauty Burns Gold by piratepenguins

It was :iconpiratepenguins:'s  birthday this month, right near Halloween! So let's do an interview! I have known her in real life for almost 10 years. However, I still forget where she lives, what she likes, and sometimes on busy weeks, her name and existence.

1. How long have you been drawing?

Technically, I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon. The drawings on my childhood home’s walls prove that well enough. As for how long I have been purposefully drawing to start an actual style, since sixth grade. I think that was around eleven-years-old. A girl on the bus in middle school gave me a Fruits Basket DVD and ever since then I began my anime-oriented art style that evolved more when I was in art class during high school when exposed to different art genres.

2. What inspirations/factors influenced your detailed zentangle ball point pen art style?

“Detailed zentangle ball point point pen art style” is an interesting way to put it. Well, what kick-started the beginnings of this style was a mix of looking at old vintage brooches and art nouveau style paintings/posters. If you look in my “Newer Traditional” gallery, “Red Orbs with Lines” was the first of the kind when experimenting with this style. As of now, looking at tattoo designs and using things in nature, such as flowers, are my main inspirations when drawing with the “zentangle” pen art style. I usually take more of a fantasy, ethereal perspective when drawing in this art style because that is what feels best to me.

It also helps to look at other artists’ techniques on deviant art that I might have been aiming for in my head but was unable to execute. If you want to see which ones exactly, check out my Inspirations folder in my Favorites.

Some in general that you might want to check out include:
- :iconnanomortis: who is one of my main inspirations with their amazing pieces that show dynamic characters with dark themes and eye popping reds;
- :icondark134: does amazing mixes of people with accessories and flowers;
- :iconwen-m: has very clean lines and focuses more on actual character design;
- :iconsooj: is one of my main tattoo inspirational artist;
- :iconmuttiy: focuses on watercolor but their detailed work speaks to me;
- :iconkoyamori: was actually one of my first inspirations with their amazing attention to motifs and detailing.

3. Who is your favorite character on RWBY and why?

My most favourite is Pyrrha Nikos, but seeing as she will no longer be in the main series, that will probably change soon. I love how she was legit trying to be the best huntress to protect people. She was honest, loyal, earnest, hardworking, and she had so much potential to do even more. Also her character design was on point like hello red head with Grecian influence.

Cinder Fall is my next favorite because I like her leashed aggression. At any moment she can turn her arrows or swords at you all with a beautiful smile on her face. She is mysterious, and her past is what drives her on to complete her task with any means necessary. I remember seeing her in the first episode of RWBY and instantly wanted to know more about her and her badass abilities.

On the main RWBY team, it has to be Weiss Schnee. She has developed so much as a character with the last three seasons. She’s elegant, graceful, and willing to put forth the effort to reach her absolute best. She also has a pretty angelic singing voice.

4. Utilize your detailed-oriented skills!:

A man was found dead with a cassette recorder in one hand, and a gun on his other hand. The police pressed the recorder, and it started playing from the beginning: "I have nothing else to live for. I have had enough." Then the sound of a gunshot.
The wife and butler said they found him dead like that, and they did not touch him or the room. The police, however, knew this was a STAGED homocide, not a suicide. What clue told them so in the description?

No looking things up. Do your best!

(All of this is from what I remember from Criminal Justice class in high school and from being taught about guns from my father. I am so sorry for all the inaccuracies, but she told me not to look up stuff.)

No visible signs of forceful entry were apparent when they had first entered the home. The police investigator was wary as he stepped around the broken glass laying around the floor. It looked to be a bottle of expense whiskey. Possibly a man drunk and depressed enough that he would commit suicide by the looks of the gun in the body’s hand. The fellow looked to be about six feet tall, dressed in fine slacks and a waistcoat with blood seeping from the chest area of his button up. The sounds of the wife wailing was outside as she cried about her trauma of seeing her husband like this.

“Hey Macmillan, check on the body while I talk to the pair,” the investigator’s partner said as he gestured towards the butler and wife standing on the front lawn of the estate. Macmillan nodded his assent to his partner as he walked out the front door.

While the other investigator spoke with the butler, Macmillan approached the body and grabbed the cloth around his thighs to scrunch them up as he knelt close to the corpse’s shoulders. The man narrowed his eyes at the long blood splatters above the body and trailed his gaze downwards as they caught the slight discoloration around the neck. He looked further at the gunshot wound directly in the middle of his chest where a blossom of blood was coloring the crisp white of the shirt. It looked to be recent as the stain was still more of a dark red rather than edged with a dried rust brown tint. What was interesting was the hole was clean apart from the blood. There were no burn marks around the hole where the gun should have been pressed against or near the chest if this was a suicide. Macmillan jerked his head down to the gun to find that the pointer finger was pressed straight against the trigger guard instead of lying inside of the space.
The investigator stood up and moved towards the suspicious blood splatters as his partner joined him while another police officer took his place talking with the pair out front, “Got a recorder from the butler. Apparently the guy had ‘nothing else to live for and had enough’ from what the recording had to say before he shot himself. What do you got Macmillan?”

“At first, I thought it was a typical suicide just with some rich drunk instead of our usual crowd-”

“But now?”

Macmillan crouched near the blood splatters and pointed at some of the ones with longer tails, “This here looks typical of a close range shot which wouldn’t be as surprising, but look at these ones.” He pointed to some splatter that seemed more rounded than the ones with the tails.

“Those look round, but that couldn’t be if he fell down there. It looks like these dropped straight down.”

“Exactly, so where did these come from? Or precisely, who? Secure the rest of the area, and we might be able to find something else.” Macmillan and his partner parted ways as they scoured the rest of the house and called in some officers that were outside locking down the area. Macmillan walked past the foyer area when he noticed a few drops of blood leading towards the staircase. As he ascended, smears of blood grappled at the inner parts of the dark oak railing. The blood trail was thicker at the top of the staircase, as if someone had stopped to take a breath while they were still bleeding out.

Macmillan opened the clasp on his gun holster and placed his hand on the grip. The blood splatters were closer together up here, so it seemed that the victim had slowed down compared to downstairs. Soft wheezing noises emanated from further down the hall. Before he opened the door fully, Macmillan took the gun out of the holster and pointed it down towards the slight gap of the barely opened door. The sight of blood pooling on the tiled marble floors was the first thing he saw. A man slight younger than the one downstairs hazily stared at a knife ground with slow breaths. He didn’t even react to Macmillan until the investigator had reached for his walkie talkie on his shoulder to call for an ambulance.

The young man grappled at the hem of Macmillan’s slacks as he chuckled and coughed in between words, “An eye for an eye huh? Should have known that he would have a knife on him. Nothing else to live for though, so why not kill him and split the money with his honey you know?” He took a few more moments to wheeze before he gave his last breaths, “What a way to go out, huh?”

5. What is your favorite part of drawing? Lineart? Color? Etc.

Lineart is my favorite part of the drawing process because that is where I plan most of the drawing. I can experiment all I want with color and such, but the lineart is the most important part. This is where I can manipulate where the flow of the drawing can go. Sometimes, the lineart is just perfect enough that I can leave things and still be satisfied. While color gives life to the drawing, I have the most fun with lineart.

6. You are finally ready to get a pet, and you go to the pound. But upon coming, there are 3 options:

A. Flippo. Abused dalmatian dog. 10 years old, and very shy from human contact because of past.

B. Puma. Beautiful Siamese cat rescued during flood. Chip found in her, but the owner has not claimed her for months.

C. Sherry. Stray calico cat constantly trying to get freedom from cage. Very clever, very controlled, and can take care of herself. If only she can get out.

Which animal do you adopt, and why?

I’m unsure if I can make a decision on this considering you gave me two animals with a behavior description, but did not describe the Siamese cat except by calling it “beautiful.” I would choose one of the cats, but I can’t make a final decision until I know the behavior. What matters when I adopt a pet is how well we “click” together, not based on their looks.

7. What digital/traditional tools do you use to draw?

Traditional: Sharpie micro permanent marker, Uniball 207 micro gel pen, mechanical pencil, or whatever free pen or pencil I got at like an orientation or something.

Digital: Firealpaca. Start with mock drawing, lineart, base color, shadowing, highlighting, extra white/light color highlights, and finally dodge and/or overlay.

8. If you had the money/time/skill, what have you always wanted to do (ex: start animation studio, make comic book, start an apple farm, have collection, etc)?

At first, I thought I would say that I just want a small cottage with tea and Wi-Fi somewhere deep in some woods with my cat so that I can finally have some peace and quiet. If I were to have anything though to just travel and eat food. Go to the Philippines and meet my grandmother, go back to the UK and have some tea at this one breakfast bistro near the Windsor Castle that I was at, walk along the Great Wall, have some chai in India, relax on the waters of Bora Bora, yell into the Grand Canyon, that kind of stuff. I want some experiences that I can remember fondly of because experiences like these can change a person and reshape how we think. I want to learn more about the world around me and be challenged. I fear of remaining stagnant than most things.

9. Why do you think you are so easily spooked by zombies, monsters, etc?

Zombies and spiders. I really don’t like the idea of an infection/disease able to take over my body as I lose my mind and possibly end up eating someone’s flesh. I CANNOT STAND spiders. I just had a freaking nightmare where I was going down a hallway where there was a talking spider about the size of a dime that was slowly growing bigger as I tried to swat it away until it finally landed on my foot and tried to bite me. Spiders are also the main reason why I stopped Skyrim in the beginning because your first story mission had to deal with those, and it was huge enough to where I just went “nope” and uninstalled.

10. Please psychologically analyze why you are so obsessed with your OC Mierlian.

I’m sure you guys are pretty much done with me waxy poetic about Mierlian Lavellan by now, but he means so much to me. I created him during a gaming sleepover with some friends as one of them handed me the controller. I made him as a joke saying I wanted to make the gayest whited haired pixie elf I could. I always usually play as a male whenever I have any sort of character creation. Why? Maybe it’s because Pokemon was first game I ever played on my own and Ash is a boy. Maybe it’s because I’m tired of all the social rules that bind me just because of my assumed gender and want respect without actually having to prove myself first. Anyways, as I began to actually play through this character and think of his backstory, he grew up into this actual person that lived and breathed in my mind. He began to have a personality and a history while I fell in love with the other characters of this game and how they reacted to him.

The wonderful thing about Dragon Age Inquisition, or any BioWare game really, is that you grow into these characters and make them your own. What features I gave him as a joke in the beginning were now endearing characteristics. What responses I gave sarcastically became his silver tongued responses. I felt like I was him at points. Whatever discrimination he got, I felt insulted on his behalf. At one point he became a facet of my personality. He will never be real, but it feels like a part of myself was able to escape into this fantasy and played out an adventure I wanted to be a part of to make a difference saving all of Thedas. I talk about him even more now because one of those friends actually asked me if she wanted to collaborate writing a fanfiction on Mierlian’s story. Anyways, in part he’s someone I’ve always wanted to be but won’t be able to in real life.

11. Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I trap Mierlian in a room with the first pride demon)?

Thank you everyone that was actually able to read through all of that. I wasn’t expecting these kinds of questions, so I wasn’t expecting to answer in a serious manner for many of them. This honestly felt more like an essay prompt quiz in one of my psychology college classes rather than an interview. Anyways, always know you can send me a note if you need to talk about anything. I’m even getting a B.A. for people to come talk to me about their feeling and issues.

Now would be the perfect time to wrap up with a cool quote or something from some inspirational icon, but alas I don’t actually care enough to scrounge one up from my list of amazing quotes I keep on hand for nifty moments like now.

The Raven by Yukike  Aladdin by Yukike  The Violinist by Yukike  shadowless.KNight-Ch0: Prologue by Yukike  Wanderer by Yukike  Nightmare Destroyer by Yukike
Let's introduce :iconyukike:! Before he goes to college for the first time, he gets to see himself basking and embarrassing himself in the artistic celebrity limelight! He is a poster child of a Korean wapanese weaboo.

1. How long have you been drawing?

I drew dinosaurs and airplanes and comics like the ones from Captain Underpants (ahh a true work of literature) a lot during Elementary school. I kept my comics in a green see-through envelope thing to not lose them but I ended up losing the envelope. //cries. My binder full of dinosaurs still rest on my shelf though.

I started seriously drawing in a more anime style in the Spring of 2013 (my friend introduced me to anime in 2012, with Sword Art Online), and I started to draw on a tablet by January 2014.

2. What inspirations/factors influenced your bold lines/color and matte-like art style?

Oh, so that's what it was called? //had to search up what matte was. As you can see, my art vocabulary is very impressive.
I loved my solid black lines, like how it feels to make them (and still do now tbh), so that's my explanation on them. Inspiration for these come from all the black and white mangas that I have no doubt you've seen in some way, shape, or form.

My bold colors are somewhat unintentional? I've been trying to tone it down a little and I'm slowly getting there. I blame my korean webtoons for the boldness. I've also gotten quite a bit of influence from the bright colors in anime and movies like Sakasama no patema and the Boy and the Beast.

3. So you are going to Yale. I mean Princeton. I mean Harvard? I mean the University of Minnesota. What is the greatest thing you want to learn there?

I'm going to the University of Antarctica, thank you very much. My major will be pie-eating because everyone knows that there are all kinds of pie just lying around on the icy banks and cliffs of Antarctica.

I hope to learn a number of things.
a) how to communicate and present in an effective manner.
b) All the sciency sciences. I'm thinking of going into bioengineering (I mean pie-eating) but I might either switch or also do pre-med (since a lot of the requirements are kinda similar) because I want to have a medical license. That way, I can treat (eat) people as a road doctor or something without getting caught for giving illegal treatments.
c) A martial art or two. It's one of those bucketlist things.
d) How to troll professors.

I feel like I can at least do this much in the four years I'll probably reside in Antarctica. Maybe also take a formal art class, since I still have yet to do that.

4. What do you think is the greatest lie ever created?

I'm going to broaden this question to the greatest types of lies. Totally not because I can't think of any at the moment.

Some might say that the greatest lie comes in scope. The more people falling for it, the better. But that's easy. As long as you have a lot of authority, more people will be inclined to believe you even though you might be spouting utter bullshit.

Some might say that the greatest lie is the one that never gets revealed as a lie. While this is certainly impressive, it's highly unlikely. You might be going thirty-forty years but at some point some curious mind is going to burst this bubble.

Others might point out that the cake is a lie. No arguments there.

I say that the greatest lie is the one that you tell yourself and believe. Why? Because this has the greatest potential for changing and hammering yourself til you become the shiniest katana there ever is. "You are what you think."

You tell yourself that you're far behind the others while training for a track meet. You work three times as hard. You tell yourself that the enemy are not people. You kill. You tell yourself that you are confident, that you are not afraid of all those people. You will end up believing yourself and look much more confident and unswayed than you actually are. Your knees might be trembling at first, but your eyes will stare at whoever stares back. And eventually, the knee trembles will stop. Whether it's morally favorable or not, the lies that you tell yourself and believe have the most power in them. No one can change who you are except yourself.

5. You notice you like to experiment/test out different art styles and art mediums (ex: polymer clay, sewing, etc). What makes you want to test out so many things?

I want to say that I have the heart of a pioneer, a scientist, a jack of all trades. But sadly, that's not quite true. It's more because that I'm incredibly wishy washy and I like doing things that are fun or things that have a practical use for me. Well...as long as I have the resources.

Sewing isn't anything new actually. I made a teddy bear that I slept with (ohohohoho) and still sleep with (OHOHOHOHOHO) way back in fourth grade, but he's kinda falling apart right now...I wanted to make a humanoid doll to take to college and the one I did recently was a prototype for it.

I wanted to play with polymer clay from way back in the past. My mom got a discounted used book on polymer clay. I was so excited to make stuff with it but...I didn't have polymer clay.

So I was like WHATT SCORE when I saw polymer clay in Walmart's arts and crafts aisle. A good six-eight dollars spent.

And I don't want my art to stagnate until I find an art style that I really really like. That might be why? Idk, it's either a hit or miss for me. Even if I do like a style, I end up getting bored by it/not able to replicate it again.

6. What is the funniest thing your Korean parents have ever told you?

Hmm...IDK. My parents aren't super funny. Or it might be my amnesia kicking in. Or maybe it's just because I'm so apathetic in real life. (Better than my brother though. I haven't heard him laugh in quite a while. In fact...how does he even laugh...WAIT HOW DO I LAUGH?! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I DIDN'T FAKE A LAUGH?!!) OH there's a story that they told me that I found pretty funny.

In Korea, there's a region where the people speak in a dialect that sounds pretty slow to everyone else (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chungche…). So in the story, there's a boy and his mother hiking a mountain for some wood or something. And the boy goes, "Maaaaaaaa, theeeerrreesss a booooouuuuulllllllllllldddddeeeeerrr rollllinnnnggg towwwarrdds youuuuuuuuuu." But his mother was already squashed by the time he finished.

And they have a lot of word/dialect jokes that people probably won't get tbh.

7. What digital/traditional tools do you use to draw?

I use an Intuos Creative Pen and Touch Tablet (thank cthulu I keep the boxes) and Stylus and a Dell computer to do my digital. I primarily use MangaStudio to draw. Whoops, now it's Clip Studio Paint, isn't it?

For my traditional stuff, I use a 0.5 mm lead mechanical pencil, a 0.5 mm Precise V5 RT Pilot pen that I got at Walmart/Office Max, occasionally actual art pens like the Micron ones, and if I color, it's always colored pencils. I used to use a bit of technique while coloring, but now it's just scribbles LOL. Also, the red colors come from the blood of my enemies but I'm sure you already knew that.

8. When do you publish your shadowless.KNight series into a full book, become a famous Korean webtoonist, and buy a mansion and some penthouse girls?

I'm probably not going to publish this into a book at all! I'm drawing this comic partly because I want to test different manga styles, and that'll mean that the style will be different chapter by chapter. If I do decide to do this into a book, I'll probably redraw the whole thing to keep the style consistent and to change the format a bit so it's suitable for print. Because otherwise, it's going to have so much wasted paper AND I LIKE PROTECTING MY ENVIRONMENT //laughs as I pour waste fertilizer into a protected pond.

9. Please show us your favorite creepy horror/chiller webtoon!

//cries For maximum effect, read in the dark and put your headphones on. comic.naver.com/webtoon/detail…

10. Someone tells you: "Why are you pursuing a jack of all trades route? Don't you know that looks bad? It looks like you're wasting time in school, not knowing what you're doing, never specializing in one path like others. People look down on that." What do you say?

I don't give a fuck on what people say about how I choose to live my life. Who cares if it looks bad? They're not the ones living my life. They're not the ones dreaming my dreams. I live my life. I dream my dreams. I'm the one who'll dictate how I live, what I'll study. Let it look bad. I'll be the baddest Jack of all trades you'll ever have the honor of meeting.

^is what I'd say if I could speak that long without tripping over my own tongue. More realistically, I'd probably awkwardly laugh and say, "Haha, that's nice--AAAAA THE NEW EPISODE CAME OUTTT" And proceed to munch on their arm as I watch anime.

(But actually, in terms of what kind of classes I'll take, I'll probably be pretty one directional. It's my hobbies/extra-curricular life that balances this out. And plus...University of Antarctica is known for its very well rounded blubbery penguins--I mean students. So I won't be alone. :) (Smile))

11. Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I sick a CRISPR flesh-eating butterfly on all your friends and loved ones)?

OMG THAT'S AWESOME!!! I WANT A BUTTERFLY LIKE THAT!!! HOW DID YOU EVEN DO IT?!! The CRISPR transformation rate is incredibly low in eukaryotes. BUT SAVE ME SOME MEAT!! I'M STARVVVVINNNGGGGggggg

(Thanks for interviewing me!)

Let's introduce :iconchronochu-chan:! He is currently prepubescent, but after he hits puberty, he will still be prepubescent in our hearts!

Chrono has decided to voice out his interview answers for those illiterate and unbearably read-lazy!: drive.google.com/file/d/0BxUf_…

1.) How long have you been drawing?

I've been drawing every since I could remember, here's a short story of the first time I tried to draw anime.

I was up late watching Inuyasha on toonami and I saw Kagome, I thought she was so pretty. I tried drawing her, but upon finishing it, I threw it away because it looked nothing like Kagome LOL. It wasn't until 3 years ago that I reunited with anime and started drawing it on a regular basis.

OH Another story, the first manga I ever opened was either ecchi or seinen. I remember the cover, it was pink and pretty and I looked inside and I saw a man wearing armor and a woman. I didn't realize until my brother pointed it out but on the cover of that pink and sparkly manga were BOOBS.

2.) What inspirations/factors influenced your smooth, colorful, and painty art style?

What really got me into painting was the youtuber tellgabrielle. Although I don't watch her videos much nowadays you can still see the similarities in our painting styles(?)
HMMM let's see...old anime is a huge influence too, the detailed cel shaded women of the anime world Lynn Minmay and Faye Valentine

3.) Sweets. Milk. Eggs. Cute things. Boys. Baking/cooking. Embarrassment. High frequency voices. I just described the generic shoujo female character. Which one of those descriptions was not you?

UHH //CRIES I CAN'T OBJECT TO ANY OF THESE, I LIKE SWEET THINGS LIKE PANCAKES, I LIKE CUTE THINGS LIKE BIRDS AND EGGS. AND MY VOICE IS UNDOUBTEDLY HIGH PITCHED. AND I DRAW BOYS.

4.) From a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being highest), how gayly in denial are you?

OH NO UMMM GAYLY IN DENIAL? 10?....1...//SWEATS 1.

5.) Your gallery's color theory is amazing. Do you study color regularly, or you experiment and understand it naturally?

I experiment with it, but I wouldn't say I understand it naturally LOL. I remember when I was trying to figure out how shading worked, I thought you could only use shade or highlights, not both together. I don't know the proper names for things or what makes an art piece look complete. To me it's all about feel, I don't know why I might feel something but I know I should trust my instinct. If the colors look wrong to me I start over or move on to the next project.

6.) Someone tells you that you have two stable salary jobs to choose from: Health Care Technician or Professional Artist. Which one would you choose?

PROFESSIONAL ARTIST OF COURSE! To work in an environment of artist to create something as a team for people to enjoy. It might be tough but I'm sure I won't regret all the work put into a job like that!

7.) What digital/traditional tools do you use to draw?

For digital art I use the drawing software Paint Tool Sai. As for traditional Hmm mostly graphite pencils, sakura pigma micron pen liners and water color paint, I use crayola colored pencils sometimes too LOL

8.) Your artwork is sometimes creepy/eerie. Is there a traumatic childhood story we should know about?

TRAUMATIC UMM... THAT'S A SECRET :iconigotacintiqplz:
MAYBE IT'S JUST TEENAGE HORMONES? YE LET'S JUST SAY THAT

9.) What is your favorite yaoi/shounen-ai (I KNOW YOU READ THEM)?

AITSU NO DAIHONMEI OH YEHAHAHHA.

10.) How do I one day get my voice as screechy and naturally prepubescent as yours?

Just swallow sand

11.) Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I tell your mother you have been drawing guys kissing again)?

AHHH THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO INTERVIEW ME! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY NONSENSICAL RAMBLINGS ABOUT ART

Nopleasedon'tplease...PLEASE, SHE'S ALREADY SUSPICIOUS ENOUGH BUTTS-SENSEI.

Let's introduce :iconlexiidear:; she took a lot of tough classes, but somehow, she's still sane!

1.) How long have you been drawing?

Since I could hold a pencil. I was that child who innocently drew on the walls.

2.) What inspirations/factors influenced your playful, yet realistic shading art style?

Definitely seeing other amazing artist’s styles. It’s the little things in life that count really. For instance in Kindergarten my teacher made me move my green behavior card into the yellow zone (that’s a bad thing) because I colored outside the lines on a picture ಠ_ಠ #SCARRED4LYFE #NEVERFORGET #I DRAW WHAT I WANT.

A lot of TV shows/movies/novels/games/companies have inspired me too. ATLA, Adventure Time, Studio Ghibli, Teen Titans, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Zelda, Albert Camus, Shugo Chara!, Maximum Ride, that one Warriors cat novel series… lol the list goes on and on :’D And of course many other deviantArtists on this site(:

Art is freedom and I love the idea of being able to create anything I imagine. The beauty of creation is wonderful, and I aim to stand as a role model to inspire those who have lost their way. Whenever times were rough or I was feeling stressed, I would subconsciously sketch, exemplifying how drawing is just deeply ingrained in who I am. If there weren’t any mediums within reach, then I would mentally paint stories and draw characters inside my mind. For me, there remain no limits when it comes to art. I feel as if I could stretch my hands toward the sky without fear of encountering a wall. Art has always acted as my escape from the world.

I hope to achieve a unique style that encompasses both a captivating and professional appearance. I’ve always been fascinated with animation and harbor an appreciation for concept sketches and storyboard work. The immense amount of dedication invested into art productions has emboldened me to strive toward similar refinement and attempt to expand my imagination to illustrious levels.

IN OTHER WORDS: NEVER STOP ARTING. ART 4EVA. *latches onto all of your hands* let’s gooooo~!

3.) What music do you think helps you draw great pictures?

K̶i̶t̶c̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶S̶i̶n̶k̶ It depends on the type of drawing. If I’m feeling sad and decide to draw depressing things, then I will most likely listen to a nice peaceful playlist of all things morbid and utterly heartbreaking. It hurts so good. This might sound sort of masochistic/sadistic but I tend to draw and paint better when I’m sad or feeling worthless haha. ALL THOSE EMOTIONS JUST POUR ONTO THE PAGE LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW. GROSS. YOU CAN’T BUY THAT KIND OF INK IN STORES FOLKS. *bottles my emotions and sells to artists on the blackmarket*

I love classical music though. What did humans do to deserve pianos in life <3
Also I have a diverse music taste, so the genre could range from Kpop to Saint-Saëns to Pan!c at the Disco to Marina and the Diamonds to Pentatonix to Daughter to etc etc etc XD

D̶a̶r̶u̶d̶e̶ ̶S̶a̶n̶d̶s̶t̶o̶r̶m̶. Trolololo

4.) Are you the smartest snowflake in the whole universe?

YOU BET YOUR LAUGHING BUTTS I AM. *snowflake melts into a sad puddle*

"The night was full of him tossing and turning, however it felt like he was trapped inside an enclosed vortex. The air around him was suffocating and the pressure crushed his lungs with every breath, but at the same time he strangely felt free. The quick wisps of air passed seamlessly through his skin as if he were a snowflake; one that floats aimlessly in the breeze getting caught up in the jetstream, never actually touching the ground. However, this infinite sensation was countered from the searing effects of a frostbite-like feeling creeping its way towards his lungs. The frost lazily spread, corrupting his heart and infecting his brain until the crisp sheet of ice finally glossed over his green eyes; the fading blue substance turning his irises grey."

I also like to occasionally write stories lulz. *puts on a schnazzy tie*

5.) What digital/traditional tools do you use to draw?

Digitally I usually use a combination of Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop, complimented by my Wacom Intuos 5 Touch tablet aka one of the best purchases of my life and my BABY. (I’m so sorry I occasionally drop you and sometimes my knee hits you in the face. I DO IT WITH LOVE I SWEAR.) When I first started drawing digitally I used the ever so fancy mouse and diligently clicked away to form something that resembled art in the best art program ever: MS Paint. For traditional artwork I normally use a combination of graphite pencils, watercolors, acrylic paints, random Crayola markers and colored pencils, and the ever so trusty Sharpie. CLEARLY I’M A PROFESSIONAL AT THEIR HEIGHT OF THEIR CAREER. *grabs scented crayons* LINE UP FOR AUTOGRAPHS.

6.) Could you escape from the addiction of coffee if you could?

Yes, try I might, but I’d die because coffee owns me. If I started bleeding right now I think I’d bleed coffee or some form of caffeinated tea. THEN THEY COULD ALSO BLACKMARKET MY BLOOD HOHOHO. I’M IN BUSINESS GUYSSS.

7.) You like analogies. Give me the best analogy to cheer up an artist that is told being an artist sucks and they should be a politician/doctor instead.

Hmmm I don’t know what the best analogy I’ve created is, so I’m just going to list a few from the past that you’ve already heard and a few new ones:

“THEY’RE ALL JUST COLD BOWLS OF SOUP. So hang onto your noodles and your spoon, because their bland broth with only taint your FLAVOR~!”

“The sexual tension between these two is slow burn, because you don't want to overcook their RAW EMOTIONS OF LOVE.”

“There’s a light at the end of every tunnel, but I think this might be a cave.” -My Senior yearbook quote haha I’m pessimistic af

“Art is like a flower. You gotta first plant the seed before anything can grow, but don’t forget to water it every now and then. Remember however, too much water and sunlight can hinder the result. You might even have to try different types of soil before anything blossoms.”

“Adults are just older children. Who’s to say when someone’s ready to head out into the world? I’m just here baking in the sun like an underdone cookie.”

“Kill them with kindness. Kindness is a sword.”

“Some offspring are like the hammy-downs of life; born to fill their parent’s shoes and adopt their habits. Well I’ve got a new pair of shoes. They’re a little worn out, but they’ll have to do.”

“Society views kids as blank discs that they can upload all their information onto.” MEANING SWIM AGAINST THAT CURRENT AND DO WHAT YOU WANT BUTTS SENSEI. WHY NOT BOTH. Art Doctor Lawyer Hybrid. FLY BE FREE.

“After all what use is a puppet with cut strings? A war lacking weapons? A bird without any wings? Oh we’ll be alright, if we hold onto the night. Let the daylight break through, like cracked egg shells, and scramble all over you, mirrored in morning dew.” I also enjoy writing poems and song lyrics lol //shot

Sorry if some of these didn’t cheer you up I’m just naturally depressing yet bubbly at the same time. THEY DON’T CALL ME DARK SUNSHINE FOR NOTHING.

8.) Have you considered doing a drawing livestream yourself?

I have actually, but that would first require more people and securing a somewhat stable spot on deviantArt. ONCE I SORT OF REACH THAT POINT IT’S FULL THROTTLE FORWARD. We’re all going on my flying magic art carpet and shall rocket to the moon and beyond O u O But that’s only for actual followers who leave my Deviation box clicked. ALL THE OTHER REGULAR “WATCHERS” WHO UNCLICK CAN JUST WATCH FROM THE SIDELINES AS WE GO TO SPAAAAAAAAACE. fools.

9.) What is your favorite manga/anime of all time?

HARDCORE YAOI DUH. Boku no P- Just kidding, or am I? *wiggles eyebrows* There’s just so many ahhhh X_x hmmm… I think I’m going to pick Avatar: The Last Airbender *sarcasm* (HAHAHA AVATAR ISN’T AN ANIME DAMMIT IT WAS MADE IN AMERICA! *sheds a single tear* )

Really though I know this might sound cliche but Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan is probably my favorite anime. I haven’t read the manga though so no spoilers please :’D (has been patiently waiting for season 2 since 2013, and is now determined to continue vigorously waiting until I̶'̶m̶ ̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶d̶ 2017). My second favorite is Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso/Your Lie in April. The soundtrack is beautiful. It hurt my kokoro. Third favorite anime is Spongebob ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) but only the older episodes. The new ones have too much hentai for my taste.

10.) Please voice act in your proudest “different voice” here (vocaroo.com/ ) and send us the link to hear it (Click To Record > Click Here to Save)!

*!~!*@*@*!~!*WARNING HEADPHONE USERS*!~!*@*@*!~!*
Please turn down your volume and adjust accordingly. Especially toward the end.

vocaroo.com/i/s1iC2gyysTh1

(aka I turn into a little sister Neko girl and say random things lol)

OH DUDE YEAH I LOVE VOCAROO IT’S MY BAE I RECORDED ALL MY ONLINE LANGUAGE ASSIGNMENTS WITH THIS THING HAHA.

This isn’t my proudest recording actually my voice is giving out as of two days ago hahaha *cries* and when I recorded this I had just come back from the trusty dentist. Rip my throat is so dry I can’t hit my kawaii notes properly so I had to settle with this. BUT IT’S NOW OR NEVER SO I’LL TRY MY BEST. GANBATTE. (refuses to record this when others are around lol so this is my one and only chance, maybe I can do another some day)

/edit Lol just listened to the recording and the mic couldn’t handle my Onii-chaaaaaan hahaha I’m dead.
My voice kept cracking in any earlier recordings D: I can go higher than this I swear ; n ; my vocals are so strained right now though //sadddd

And yes, I just called myself NekoDeko. THUG LYFE.

11.) Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I eat all of your eggs)?

DON’T TOUCH ME EGGS THEY’RE ALL I HAVE l̶e̶f̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶l̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶w̶a̶r̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶l̶i̶f̶e̶ TO EAT. That and cereal. Lots and lots of cereal.

I love eggs and warm soup.

: (
Turn that frown upside down!

I'LL DO MY BEST NOW TO NOT DISAPPOINT MY FUTURE SELF. *ambitiously draws*

:iconperpetualpeep: is our first celebrity!

1.) How long have you been drawing?

I technically have been drawing my whole life, but about 2-3 years ago is when I started putting a lot of effort into drawing.

2.) What inspirations/factors influenced your dynamic, punkish, and colorful art style?

That's a hard question, but I can start off saying that Anime and manga was definitely a key influence! (Air Gear and Daganrompa were major inspirations)! :) (Smile)

It really encouraged me into wanting to develop a style of my own, and to be able to create my own characters! :D (Big Grin)

Other factors could include "Zentangling" and "Pop art." I admire the bright neon-like color palettes of pop-art and the complex and intricate detailing of Zentangling. I love to fill in all the negative spaces in my art with random shapes and such!~

I'm really into the concept of sci-fi as well, and dark things like demons and villains in general. But I do enjoy cute things too.~

3.) Do you wish you could have some of the awesome hair your characters have?

While I personally love designing crazy, colorful hairstyles, I don't think I'd want my own hair that way. xD

4.) What digital/traditional tools do you use to draw?

I use a Bic permanent markers on the majority of my works. I highly recommend them as they work similar to Copics, but are much cheaper. I also use an Asakura souffle white pen, neon gel pens, Prismacolors, black office pens, and mainly anything around me. You don't always need expensive art supplies to make art! I've even used crayola in some of my art before~ :D (Big Grin)

5.) How long does it take for you to draw an art piece?

It's hard to say exactly how long it takes for me to draw a piece. I'd have to say about 7-9 hours for most of them. But I must admit that I'm a huge procrastinator haha. So some stuff takes weeks to finish~

6.) What is your avatar of?
My Avatar is a gif of my favorite character, Accelerator. He's a character I've adored since middle school and somehow, I have yet to find a character to replace him as my favorite. ¯\_(シ)_/¯ (I have a thing for white haired anime boys  )

7.) Do you attend/suffer in school?

Yep, I'm still in high school! ;w;

8.) What is your favorite manga/anime of all time?

Of all time!? Just one!? HOW CAN I SUBJECT MYSELF TO JUST ONE!

Ah well, I'd have to say A Certain Magical Index/ A Certain Scientific Railgun. It can get confusing at times, and it's not for everyone, but the characters are likable, the story itself is really interesting, and the sci-fi action/fighting sold it for me.

(I'd also like to note that the Deadman Wonderland manga is fantastically amazing, and it's definitely a close second. haha I cheated and picked 2)

9.) From your gallery, I can only ask this: Do you think you have a bit of madness in you?

Not particularly ~ I do daydream a lot which often leads me into creatively-chaotic state of mind, but nah, I'm just an introverted teenager that likes to draw crazy things. (But you know what they say about "the quiet ones" lol)

10.) What is a project (making a manga, making a dating sims game, starting a new series, etc) are you interested in starting eventually?

I definitely want to make a manga/comic one day! It's something I've wanted to do for quite a while now!

I already have characters and somewhat of a plot thought out, but drawing an entire story is easier said than done. I sure hope to give it a shot one day!

11.) Thanks a lot for agreeing to be a part of this interview! Any last words to the audience (before I beat you with a stick)?

I'm tired and want a hot pocket! '-' (please don't hurt me D': )
